Cuddy Family Midtown Park Skating and Fitness Oval is a great place for fast, fun and family skating. The ice is in and skating conditions are fantastic!

Solstice Skate is Coming Up!

Monday, December 21, from 6-8 PM is our annual Solstice Skate. This is a fun event for everyone. The oval will be lit with candles and luminarias, the Christmas music will play on the brand new sound system at the oval, and you can have a fun time skating. There will be hot cholate and free horse-drawn carriage rides as well. Also, the first 100 people to donate to Anchorage Skates for the annual ice pin, will get a free Santa hat! There will also be a parade of lighted sleds on the oval. Just come on out!

Anchorage’s Cuddy Family Midtown Park Skating and Fitness Oval is one of only six Olympic-sized speedskating ovals in the United States. The 400 meter oval is three lanes wide and its asphalt surface is great for summer inline skating.

Access the oval by going either west on 40th Avenue from A Street or east on 40th Avenue from C Street. Both routes end at cul de sac parking areas. Cuddy Family Midtown Park features pond skating on its east side and the skate oval on its west side.

You can help keep Midtown Park ice nice. Please make a tax-deductible contribution to the Alaska Community Foundation’s AnchorageSkates! Fund to help pay for ice maintenance and to support new projects at the oval. It costs more than $16,000 per season to keep Anchorage’s oval ice nice. AnchorageSkates! raises two-thirds of this money from skaters and other private contributors. Contribute at least $15 to get your annual AnchorageSkates! pin . . . to show that you support nice ice.And now, you can buy a pin at Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking!
